appears to not work properly in Space engine 9.7.4 Patch 09 beta

Simply go to the "Solarsys.sc" and under each moon make sure the nombers are set right like i show below:

That's it... I'm fucking tired of the shitty resolution images we have of the moons of Uranus from Voyager and we still haven't gone back yet. so i will paint each moon by hand in fabulous sexy HD as best as i can. haha

When i explore the Uranus system in stuff like Orbiter 2015 and Space Engine i want to actually be able to see mountains and craters below me instead of annoying pixels and nothingunknown flat parts. and when i land i want to actually land on something for once! geez.

This is kinda my little rage against the lack of a return or interest for Uranus i guess lol. These amazing worlds are just waiting there full of secrets still very unexplored. Maybe I can inspire people to appreciate this amazing planet and its moons somehow idk.

I tried my best to fit the known areas in with the rest. it fits very well with the known Voyager 2 photos and continues nice i think to the unseen hemisphere. but dont expect it to be perfect, its an artist's impression really. I'm not going to spend all my life getting everything perfect.

Also wow. You really get to know a world when you paint it and see how it flows and feels. each little part is unique and special. its kinda like i discovered and explored an entirely new world for the first time or something all over again using a brush. if you really want to learn something, build it all over again.

welp.. 1 down, 4 more moons to go! next will be Miranda i think.

=============================================================================

Painted and made in Blender 3D. Edited in GIMP.

And guess what. Use this all you like. i want it to be public for everyone to use however they like. so have fun!
Credit to me would be nice though <3 but whatever. just dont call it your own originally geez.

I love it. This is very well done. How long should it take you to work on all the moons?

thanks = )
I don't know, we will see when i get back to them. right now i am just working on other art for now. but i do definitely want to finish all the moons, each one would take about 3 full days of hand painting and brushes i guess.
i like to listen to podcasts while i paint, do you know of any cool podcasts i can listen to? hehe

my old addon on the motherload was hand painted, this one is made from real data. Read the description for more details ;)

sure :) in case you want the bump texture without my high-pass details, just grab the image in Paul Schenk's blog and project it from polar to cylindrical. (In case you also can't do anything with the "lambertian equal area projection")

ok ill give that a shot when i do it = ) ill probably fix it up a lot too and go by eye too.

Edit*
do you have any idea how he got the bump map from the image? ive been dieing for a program that can do that, ive seen people talk about it around but never actually found one.

No, unfortunately not. But I got some idea of the process:
You take 2 or more images taken from different angles (in spaceflight you simply have to wait for the world rotating under you). When putting the images in a red-green or cross-eyed stereo, our eye can generate a strereo image. It seems some programs have the same ability, but I have no idea which programs or how to do that. But I know John van Vliet is using this a lot...

hmm that brings up some ideas. i know there are some 3D programs out there that convert photographs into a 3D mesh . i wonder if i can do the same with space photos, then just convert the modle to bump like i do to make asteroid elevation maps for space engine. i will have to look into it more! = )

Oh, not yet)
This is my 3d solar system program (i'm using WebGL, so it work in browser).
I'm programming it for 3 years, lol, i know too long, because i'm not a programmer.
(Sorry my english bad) And last year half of my pc with hard drive was BURNED, and i lost all files, lol!
So i repaired my shitty pc and now i'm recreate my program step by step.
And i don't made bump/normal maps support yet, because at first i need restore another parts, it's a long way)
But i can show some screenshoots.

1. Jupiter triple shadows (moons orbits not in scale)
i016.radikal.ru/1601/25/6f6341…

2. Saturn shadows testing (rings just alpha channel, don't work with it yet)
s018.radikal.ru/i526/1601/6d/d…

3. Jupiter system in real scale now (NEED MORE SATELLITES, lol)
i057.radikal.ru/1601/6a/9845ce…

4. Earth first attempt (Moon orbit not in scale)
s019.radikal.ru/i630/1601/a4/e…

4. Earth second attempt (with Sean O'neil atmospheric scattering)
i011.radikal.ru/1601/14/382c58…

5. and this one i made when you publish your first textures of Pluto and Charon (using it as desktop wallpaper)

ok cool! = D it looks nice so far, its hard to have lost things and then need to re make them, i hate when that happens. its nice to see you could get back up again and remake your program. its looking good so far! would be nice to use as a web app for people to see = )

Well done! I was working on something similar more than 2 years ago when I made my Miranda Bump Map addon for the Celestia Moherlode. With Ariel, i abandoned it after I finished the terminator area, it just didn't work out. Nice to see someone cares about these worlds :)
Did you consider actually uploading it to the motherlode? Seems Celestia gets forgotten :(
Keep up your good work ;)

oh hey thanks! = D and ah it was you who did that Miranda map! i never knew. i still want to redo Miranda in HD eventually if that's alright along with the rest of the 5 moons. I agree, these worlds get ignored a lot and its really sad. =(
I could upload it to the Celestia motherload. I too have forgotten Celestia for Space Engine with much much better graphics and actual 3D surfaces. Celestia kinda died back in 2008 didn't it? = o I also have yet to post it to the Space Engine Fourms too to share it. Maybe when i do all 5 moons i will. =)
cheers

Yes I did the Miranda map :) and for my current project I actually made a map from real data from Paul Schenk. But I'd love to see your version of Miranda in 8k of course!
I also discorvered Space Engine, but I'll stick to Celestia because it's easier to modify and a lot more acurrate. (Anyway I want Celestia with Space Engine graphics :( )
Celestia still had an active community before to forum went offline in 2013/2014, still there are some left on Celestial Matters. For the motherlode, I'm currently the only one to upload regulary... :(

cool stuff! =) i guess i should upload a few of my addons sometime too then. Though nobody liked my Galileo addon to much by the comments.
i wish Celestia was as beautiful as space engine too. what ever happened to the developers of Celestia? the only thing that i find space engine is missing is the fixed orbit spacecraft like voyager and Galileo and Cassini etc, but i am sure that will be added in the future.
cheers bud.

Please do so, maybe we can revive Celestia! Actually your Galileo remake was the only addon lately I was actually interested in, I currently have it installed ;) It's works for me, so don't know what the problem was on those who commented. Good work anyway :)
I've done a lot of research on what happened to Celestia and the developers, not much information there. It seems the developement team lost their interest at some point. I would help but I suck at programming, so I'll stick to addon developement.
I wonder if it's possible to use some feature of Space Engine in Celestia, both should be open surce, right? And that is my problem with Space Engine. Great graphic, but no accurate orbits, so no spacecraft possible (at the moment)

ok, i uploaded my Jupiter 1975 addon map. Nothing new in the addons yet, but it should make it. I tried uploading my Ariel map but it was too big sadly. you can upload the Celestia addon i made for Ariel if you want i dont really know how.
and yay I'm glad you liked my Galileo! <3 that means a lot to me = D idk if you've seen my full HD version of it yet sketchfab.com/models/19c3c6e0c… its too bad Celestia could never do spacecraft like that. its a shame how Celestia went. don't forget Space engine is still in Beta development, i'm sure they will have accurate orbits eventually.

OK, don't worry, it will take about 2 weeks until the addon is listed. I uploaded a addon for 67P on jan. 1, it got approved on jan 12. I added a comment (I forgot to rotate the model) and ... the addon disappeared -.- it is still avaliable if you click on my name twice...
I have no idea how it works to upload addons bigger than 8 MB, I reduced the size of my 67P model to just under this limit. So I can't upload your Ariel addon eather... until I figure this out. Did you try to convert the textures to jpg? I use a quality of 90%, it gives still low compression but saves much disk space, wich will also improve the performance. Maybe the addon is small enough then.
Your model looks pretty good. What do you mean Celestia could never do spacecraft like that?. I have very limited modeling skills and had a problem with my Juno model... seems Celestia doesn't like transparent textures so I ignored it. But you figured it out ;)

Edit: The textures are still too big even as jpg's. I should mention that I converted your bump map into a normal map since Celestia handles them better...

still nothing yet.

oh i must go see that 67 P model then! = D

And yeah its ok. ill just keep my large addons here in the addons folder of my art gallery. =) you can still upload the Ariel addon with credit it if you figure it out. The Celestia motherload still feels like its early 2002, with the tinny file size and art style lol.

Dizel777 already made a better texture for Triton. And cirax already made better textures for Uranus' moons except for Miranda. However, Fargetanik also made a better texture of Miranda.

Its a nice one. it will be the most difficult to continue Triton out of them all i think, because it has such high resolution and well known parts allready. Hand painting the rest would have to fit in with the detail of the known areas smoothly. the moons of Uranus are easier because they are not seen very well yet. id like to give it a try though some time.
